All the world is hearing about the violence, killings and drug wars along this border---several mass graves were uncovered this week---Regularly someone calls me and ask about 'the bad situation down there'--and it is bad  !!--

BUT I WISH I COULD UNCOVER HELL AND SHOW CHRISTIANS THAT REAL PEOPLE ARE ENTERING REAL ETERNAL TORMENT ALL THE TIME--NON STOP!!! No one ever calls to ask, 'How many people from the Border entered Hell this  past week because they were never told of God's offer of  eternal life? If we BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD, we are aware of hell's reality, (Faith is the evidence of things not seen--Heb.11) Pray that 'believers'  will be moved  with compassion to 'throw out the lifeline' by putting God's Word into sinners' hands ! Pray too for
www.sowersfellowship.org---our ministry to encourage and help those who sow God's word.

On every side we hear about what 'cannot' be done, and about those who 'cannot' be reached------Let's get real!!------------TODAY THERE ARE MORE 'DOABLE' OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE THE GOSPEL THAN EVER IN HISTORY  !!!!

Most 'Christians'  respond to the  desperate challange of today by either having an INTENSIFIED Bible study about MISSIONS, or by  increasing their missionary giving ( which is commendable---however, much of that giving SUPPORTS those who are 'building' their own 'world' (ministry), and do very little 'going and giving' the Gospel to all the world ,as we are commanded to do.) Others show their concern by going on MISSION TRIPS..I thank God for the evangelism , national Church strengthening and life-challenging  results of some trips. However, in the interest of promoting true 'mission ' work, I have to say that many 'mission trips'  in these days SPEND A LOT OF MISSION MONEY, PROVIDE A GOOD VACATION TO SOME WHO NEVER WITNESS OR CARE ABOUT MISSIONS OTHERWISE, DO A LOT OF WORK THAT THE NATIONAL CHURCH SHOULD HAVE DONE, STRENGTHENS THE NATIONAL PASTOR'S DICTATORIAL CONTROL OVER THE CHURCH, AND PROMOTES THE DEFEATING IDEA THAT THE NATIONAL CHURCH DOES NOT HAVE THE FAITH, THE AUTHORITY OR THE RESPONSIBILITY TO MANAGE THEIR FINANCES AND PAY THEIR PASTOR.

A mission trip (or any Christian effort) that follows  the New Testament example and order will:
--Be an interaction between CHURCHES ( MESSENGERS--missionaries may be involved--II Cor. 8,9,10,) and for the edifying of the churches---     I Cor.14;12
--Follow NT teaching concerning every Church's responsibility to give, to pay their Pastor and
be responsible ( no matter the size or financial ability) to manage  it's money and affairs .
--Have as it's  central purpose ' teaching and encouraging the national Church with testimonies, and doctrine
to give, witness and believe God for their needs.'
(Historically, churches (and missionary societies) that teach a 'social' gospel  have done 'mission' work that  meets
physical need-----they take rice and beans, clothes and shoes, toys and treats, while ignoring the real Great Comission!
THEY SUBSTITUTE SOCIAL SERVICE !!---AND LEAVE THE NATIONAL CHURCHES IGNORANT OF THE TRUTH THAT GOD'S PROMISES ARE FOR  THEM ALSO---AND THEY TOO CAN HAVE THE JOY Of GIVING !--ARE BIBLE BELIEVERS ON THAT SAME SLIPPERY SLOPE IN MISSION WORK ?  YES----AND THE GREATEST EVIDENCE  IS THE LACK OF PERSONAL WITNESSING ZEAL AND AN ALMOST TOTAL INDIFFERENCE TO THE OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE THE GOSPEL

Would you enjoy pointing a weary traveler to the road he seeks?        Don't just give him a map -- Give him the WAY !
Would you delight to share the answer a confused student needs?       Don't just give him a book -- Give him the TRUTH !
Would you be blessed to see a dying man rise up with perfect health?   Don't just give him a pill -----Give him LIFE !

Saturday, July 24, 2010, was hot in the Brownsville Flea Market.  None of my helpers had showed up.  By the time I opened the big metal doors and arranged things to begin the Scripture distribution, all my clothes were soaked with sweat.  Then all the crowds began to come.  I was running to give out Scriptures, stamp tracts and answer some who stopped to ask questions.  If I had had the time, I would have become frustrated.  (I said I was alone - shame of me! – Jesus said to all who obey the Great Commission, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”

While I was still enjoying His promise, eight of my ‘little ’fleas’ (Angels) came bounding in asking, “Can we help?”  For the next three hours, they gave out over 2000 Scriptures and stamped tracts, sweated profusely (and consumed much pizza and lemonade).  Even this little one-year-old handed out some Scriptures after watching her two sisters do it.

My Smallest Angel Helper

Today, Sunday, some of my adult helpers have come.  I am glad to have them, but I wouldn’t trade yesterday’s experience when our Lord showed me, “You are not alone.”  He will always do what He promised when we attempt to obey what He commanded.

By eleven o’clock, I was sweated out from the 101 degree heat.  The crowds continue to come and I took turns with our helpers trying to give everyone a Scripture as they went by.  Too, several ‘difficult’ people had challenged me when they read the banner over our booth, ‘All the Debt is Paid’.  I tried patiently to explain the grace of God ---but I felt the message was foreign to them.

Then a nicely dressed Mexican man stopped in front of me and said, “I have been watching you for three weeks!” (I thought, “Lord, help me – I don’t feel like being patient with another one!”)  But the man continued, “I have heard you explain to several people how Jesus died to pay all our sin debt.”  I heard you read the Bible where God promises forgiveness and eternal life if we will believe -- Well, I believe it and that’s what I want!”

As I invited him to sit down with me I forgot all the negative experiences of the morning – in fact, it felt like a cool breeze moved across the area!

I opened the Bible and had Sergio read John 3:16, John 5:24 and John 1:12.  Then I asked him,  “Do you want to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior?”  He answered, “Yes, I do.”  Then I had him read Romans 10:9-13 and asked him, “Sergio, do you want to call on the Lord Jesus and trust Him for forgiveness for all your sins?”  He answered, “Yes, I do”.

As he prayed a simple prayer, I rejoiced that the Soul Winner, The Holy Spirit, is faithful to do His work when we are faithful to be His witnesses.
